HISTORY
A journey that began back at the end of 2003, but is no where
near coming to an end, 'The Other People' are growing in
stature with each passing day. Known for their lively and
energetic performances, this is a band that is now recognised
as one of India's leading "Old School" bands!
Depending on the venue and requirements, their shows cover a
variety of genres ranging from Soft Rock to Rock n' Roll,
throwing in some Reggae mixed with a little Contemporary and
some Retro, a touch of Blues, a shout of Pop and even a bit of
some thumping Disco! The crowd and fan following that they
have slowly but steadily built up over the years is also widely
varied, with people being anything between 16 and 70 years,
and the simple motto of the band for everyone, no matter who
or how old, being "Dance till you drop!" Known to bring an
original twist into each track, the band never fails to surprise an
audience and ensures that they stay hooked right through the
show!
After having a good amount of experience and a good number
of shows under their belt, the guys from Mumbai are always
looking to push for more! 'The Other People' play regularly at
clubs around Mumbai like Blue Frog & Hard Rock Cafe, amongst
others outside the city like Opus in Bangalore, Hard Rock Cafe
in Hyderabad, Bangalore & Pune and a few in Goa as well!
Besides the club shows around the country, the band is always
looking to perform at parties, events, pre / post wedding
parties, etc and are slowly building up a good reputation for this
as well. Their first big break was to play at the Lakme India
Fashion Week finale party in November 2008, following which
"The Other People" got the opportunity to play at a party for one
of India's leading designers, Mr. Wendell Rodricks, as well as a
party in Mumbai for the launch of Absolut Vodka's Rock Edition,
some corporate and wedding parties as well as being chosen to
play at The Great Indian Octoberfest in Bangalore in October
2010 an event where only the leading artists from around the
country like Neha Bhasin, Shaan, DJ Aqeel & DJ Pearl to name a
few, as well as some International acts like Lacuna Coil &
Bedouin Soundclash are chosen to play each year!
A couple of other big breaks that 'The Other People' earned in
the year of 2010, included being the opening act in Mumbai &
Hyderabad for American rockers 'Saving Abel' on their tour of
India in February 2010 as well as in Bangalore for Danish pop
stars 'Michael Learns To Rock' on their tour of India in June
2010! These two big events got 'The Other People' an
introduction, a very successful one at that, with the music crazy
crowds of Bangalore & Hyderabad!
The band is now looking to take things a step further, and is
now in the process of recording their debut album called 'Step
It Up' which will include some songs written and composed by
the band itself. The aim is to get an even better response for
this album and hopefully one day in the near future, push on to
the International level.
'The Other People' are driven with passion, energy, ambition
and above all, a love for music and performing in front of
thousands of people! After being recently featured in the
November & December 2010 issues of one of India's leading
lifestyle magazines "Vogue", the band is confident that more
opportunities and doors will open for them in the near future on
the national and international stage, and are looking forward to
grabbing these opportunities with both hands and
pushing ahead!
